Engine 17 and Engine 35 received their new engine on September 22nd, and will be outfitted on September 27th along with Engine 7 that did not make the outfitting on the 20th because of a coolant leak in the cab. The old seagraves from 17 and 35 will be sent to ECTC to be used for the recruits.

Four more engines released to the field today, E7 (Medic), E116, E152 and E183 (Medic) picked up their engines from the fire shops. They will be outfitted with equipment on Wednesday September 20th .

Shop personnel are currently working out a few radio problems, including the possibilty of relocating the radios. There have been concerns of engineers and captains having to unbuckle their seatbelts to be able reach to turn radio volume up or down or to change the channels causing a unsafe situation. Once this is completed there are 4 engines that will be released to the field possibly next week.

Tomorrow new Engine 184 and Engine 194 will go to the Pacoima Warehouse and be outfitted with new hose, tools and various other equipment, and be put into service within 7-10 days. Below are pictures of new Engine 184.

Station 184 and Station 194 will be receiving their new engine in the next couple of days from the fire shops. They will be waiting for the date to go to Pacoima to equip the engines. The following engines are in different processes and should be sent to the field within a week or two: Engine 171, Engine 64, Engine 45, Engine 116. As you can see in the pictures below the fire shop and LAO have rigs galores in and around them.

The mechanics are working hard to get the apparatus to the field, good job.

One station is where the radios, mdt, etc are installed.

The fire shops can not hold all the new engines, the LAO grinder is used.

Station 2 and Station 83 personnel have put their new engines into service. We are waiting to hear what their first calls were. Station 50 and Station 164 have picked up their new engines, tomorrow they will go to Pacoima warehouse to be outfitted with hose and equipment. Training for both engines will be August 17th, then about 10 days after that they will be placed into service.

August 9, 2006
Engine 2 and Engine 83 personnel were trained today at fire station 106. The training covered the operations, pumping, driving and how to correct protential problems related to electronic sensors and components. On August 8th, both engines went to the Pacoima warehouse where both rigs were outfitted with hose, tools and various other equipment. The engines are expected to be in service 10 days later after all engineers are trained, either august 13th or 14th.

July 28, 2006
Engine 2 and Engine 83 will be released to the field next week. We have taken down the list in cooperation with the department who will be giving LACountyFire.com weekly updates to keep members and the field upto date on unit status and thier release dates.

July 21, 2006
The new engines have arrived. There are currently 19 engine in and around the Eastern Fire Shops being outfited with equipment, radios, MDT, etc. The field should begin receiving the new engines in about 2 weeks. KME will be delivering 4 new engines every month until the balance of the contract has been received.

The criteria of what engines to replaced are based on year of the engines, their condition, miles driven each month and some think a little political pressure. As information become available we will post it here and in the Forum Section.
